My grandma used to live under Joseph Stalin rule. When she heard that Obama administration was facing obstacles to his plans of nationalization of health care from angry mis-informed mobs, she recalled that Joseph Stalin faced similar problems in 1930, when he pursued nationalization of agricultural farms.

Joseph Stalin then called on his supporters to report people who spread false rumors about inevitable famine to his aides. Should Barack Obama do the same?

I watched the debate and at the end when the candidates wives came to see the audience, I could not help feeling that Michelle Obama either felt uneasy, or tense, or somewhat artificial. Was she wearing a dress she did not feel comfortable with, or was it the audience? What do you think? And I am not trying to "smear" or unfairly criticize her, but just look at other people there and look at her and see the tension - even Barack Obama did not look that artificial and he was quite confident during and after the debate.

When the citizens of New York saw Obama's 767 jet flying low they ran for cover. Even though there was an all powerful F-16 right upon its tail, quite capable to reduce the jumbo jet to splinters in a matter of seconds should such order come.

Obama however established himself as being reluctant to use force, as well as being eager to release detained terrorists and unwilling to interrogate them. The reaction of New Yorkers tells us volumes about public confidence in Barack Obama and his administration.

If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists - to protect them and to promote their common welfare - all else is lost.

BARACK OBAMA, speech, Aug. 28, 2006

Americans ... still believe in an America where anything's possible -- they just don't think their leaders do.

BARACK OBAMA, fundraising letter, Sep. 1, 2006

America is a land of big dreamers and big hopes. It is this hope that has sustained us through revolution and civil war, depression and world war, a struggle for civil and social rights and the brink of nuclear crisis. And it is because our dreamers dreamed that we have emerged from each challenge more united, more prosperous, and more admired than before.

BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jun. 4, 2005

YES WE CAN!

BARACK OBAMA, campaign slogan, 2008

The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity, on the ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart -- not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

BARACK OBAMA, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20. 2009

We should be more modest in our belief that we can impose democracy on a country through military force. In the past, it has been movements for freedom from within tyrannical regimes that have led to flourishing democracies; movements that continue today. This doesn’t mean abandoning our values and ideals; wherever we can, it’s in our interest to help foster democracy through the diplomatic and economic resources at our disposal. But even as we provide such help, we should be clear that the institutions of democracy – free markets, a free press, a strong civil society – cannot be built overnight, and they cannot be built at the end of a barrel of a gun. And so we must realize that the freedoms FDR once spoke of – especially freedom from want and freedom from fear – do not just come from deposing a tyrant and handing out ballots; they are only realized once the personal and material security of a people is ensured as well.

BARACK OBAMA, speech, Nov. 20, 2006

We live in a culture that discourages empathy. A culture that too often tells us our principle goal in life is to be rich, thin, young, famous, safe, and entertained.

BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jul. 12, 2006

Secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglas, Abraham Lincoln, Williams Jennings Bryant, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King - indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history - were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. So to say that men and women should not inject their "personal morality" into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

BARACK OBAMA, Jun. 28, 2006

I always believe that ultimately, if people are paying attention, then we get good government and good leadership. And when we get lazy, as a democracy and civically start taking shortcuts, then it results in bad government and politics.

BARACK OBAMA, MSNBC interview, Sep. 25, 2006

When special interests put their thumb on the scale, and distort the free market, the people who compete by the rules come in last.

BARACK OBAMA, speech, Aug. 2, 2008

The best judge of whether or not a country is going to develop is how it treats its women. If it's educating its girls, if women have equal rights, that country is going to move forward. But if women are oppressed and abused and illiterate, then they're going to fall behind.

BARACK OBAMA, Ladies' Home Journal, Sep. 2008

For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

BARACK OBAMA, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20. 2009

I will never forget that the only reason I'm standing here today is because somebody, somewhere stood up for me when it was risky. Stood up when it was hard. Stood up when it wasn't popular. And because that somebody stood up, a few more stood up. And then a few thousand stood up. And then a few million stood up. And standing up, with courage and clear purpose, they somehow managed to change the world.
