@dmagical32 Obama wants to not only end loopholes like the accelerated depreciation on private jets, but also bigger items like ending taxpayer subsidies to mega profitable oil corps, and ending the Bush tax cuts for the rich. The CBO said that the Bush tax cuts will add $3.2 trillion to the deficit over 10yrs.
Obama wants those who benefited most during the recession to contribute to share in sacrifice.
Rep’s want veterans, medicare recipients, students, & elderly to do all sacrificing.

@hookalakah That’s a lot of bullshit in a vain attempt to disguise the fact that while Obama says everyone will have to sacrifice to end the deficit, the Rep’s want the sacrifices to be entirely born by veterans, the elderly, medicare recipients, and the poor.
Rep’s not only do not want to see any shared sacrifice by the rich, they want to give them even more benefits by eliminating taxes entirely on dividends & cap gains – the main sources of inc for the rich.

How the hell does the US get out of a 14 trillion dollar debt that is impossible. They will continue to raise the debt ceiling for years to come that is scary. Hopefully Obama wont have to raise the debt ceiling 6 times like Bush did during his time.

If you take into account for inflation. During the 80′s, we had a deficit of 3 trillion, and the sky was falling. We made it through that. Politicians both sides need to compromise to work this out.

@MetalDetroit Do you really believe that companies will invest in the US? We can not compete with India or China, I don’t care if we gave them a tax credit for keeping jobs here. They won’t. Businesses exist for one reason, to make huge profits, and no other reason. It wouldn’t be profitable to bring jobs here. Example: An US engineer beginning salary 50k a year, in India 10k. Who would you hire? Oil and gas companies will be the largest jobs created here in the future, while gouging us.

There are hard working citizens all over the nation that work their fingers to the bone putting food on the table, paying the rent, and providing for their families. Their wages have stagnated while the rich are the only class that have continued to do better during the recession, and capital gains & dividends are their main sources of income. To exempt dividends & cap gains is to reward wealth more than work.
