    I don’t know, or care.

Honestly, a lot is expected from a first lady. There supposed to better the environment.

Since were talking about first ladies, If I was a chick and my husband became president. I am not doing any of the social pressures that would be put on me. If my job was a lawyer protecting firms that screw the environment then that’s what I will continue to do.

So, just because her work is lousy does not mean she should not get paid for the time she put in.

not really sure if she’s on the payroll, but she has 27 people to help her and they all make over 6 figures.I understand that during the campaign she was on the payroll of at least 320 different newspapers. weird huh.

No. The position of First Lady is not an official position. She receives no pay and no pension. And although there is nothing that forbids a First Lady from working, most First Ladies do not have a "real job" because it is usually deemed a conflict of interest and because traditionally First Ladies adopt a cause to promote and use their time to promote that (non-controversial) cause.

Michelle Obama isn’t even close to being the most powerful First Lady. In recent history, Hilary Clinton is probably the most powerful. Historically, Eleanor Roosevelt was very powerful and involved in her husband’s presidencies.

However, the most powerful First Lady would have been Edith Wilson..Woodrow Wilson’s wife. After Wilson suffered a stroke that incapacitated him, his wife, Edith, essentially became President, running the country for months after wards. And she did it without getting paid.
