If Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are what make me believe the Republicans have gone into a downward spiral they may never get back from, Colin Powell is why I say there are still honest, intelligent, good men in the conservative camp. He gives me some hope for a party I have mostly written off as a lost cause, and is perhaps the ONE MAN in all the world who would win my vote in a presidential race as a Republican.

@nothri I’m from the UK, and as far as I am concerned politically, I would call myself a Democrat as far as US politics goes. However you sum it up beautifully. Despite policy differences, there are good conservatives and bad liberals. I wish that people could see past party/ideological differences and realise this, and vote accordingly. As a liberal (purely by party categorisation), I would rather have a good right-wing government than a bad left-wing government.
