    @ajack50 The average teaching salary in this country hovers at 45K. Teachers who have been in the profession will see a top salary of 70 to 90K. That is not an astronomical increase by any means (especially corporate America means). Any teacher can be fired, but a process must be followed. Unions saved teachers from arbitrary firings. Now, administrators must have justification for their decisions – is that wrong? The economy is in the tank, why do people take it out on teachers?

    Obama has broken every major promise he made during the campaign trail, from ending warrentless secret surveillance of American citizens, to bringing Bush administration officials to justice for the illegal torture program, to closing the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

    Obama sounds pissed at Congress. You can hear a quiet intensity in his voice raging inside of him as he gives this speech.

    The new Democrat slogan should be “Results Not Lip Service.” Go Obama. Go Dems. We’re getting the tough job done.

    Exactly the opposite of what they do in Brazil and that’s why people are so ignorant and still criticize both Obama when he gives priority to education that is right and essential!!

    @1986hangman I love how everybody is an economist now. There’s a better way to stimulate the economy, Obama just doesn’t want to hear it.

    Please take your Keynesian bullshit elsewhere!

  13. incognito9887 says:

    @52jamaica “Your stupid BAILOUT talking point is void when it will be paid for by taking away all the loopholes W administration created.”

    This bill offers $10 billion to save union teachers jobs. That’s no problem cause it cuts $12 billion for the food stamp program that feeds 41 million Americans.

    You still think it’s being paid for by some super secret loophole Dubya created that Obama is closing?

  14. 1986hangman says:

    @incognito9887
    yeah and you and your stupid republican leaders dont have anything. as a matter of fact they think tax cuts to small business is counter productive, but at the same time want to give tax cuts to millionaires…. no wonder they are a minority party.

  15. incognito9887 says:

    @RWDixon8r

    OK, don’t you wonder why they can’t use some of the stimulus to accomplish that? There’s like only what, half of it unspent?

    Also, why are these public sector jobs so important, as you agree that both sectors need government intervention? Shouldn’t the state be responsible, shouldn’t they attempt to save jobs through union concessions. Maybe they can even find other areas to make cuts first, which I believe would save jobs. Why are the teachers, cops, and firefighters always 1st?

  16. incognito9887 says:

    @1986hangman

    Are you out of your fucking mind?

    Yeah, right-wingers always oppose tax cuts, especially to small, private sector businesses. *sarc*

    Hello Barry Soetoro. When are you going to reveal your REAL name to the American public?

    I love your conversational hypnosis. You’re pretty good at it.

  18. 1986hangman says:

    @incognito9887
    obviously you havent been paying attention. You sound like a idiot to anyone that knows the facts on this….. look it up

  19. incognito9887 says:

    @1986hangman

    Look what up… that the GOP filibustered a $30 billion bank bailout that democrats refused to call for a simple majority vote because republicans might add amendments to it?

    But, idiot, didn’t you say republicans “think tax cuts to small business is counter productive?”

    Did you really think this bill had anything to do with TAX CUTS for small businesses? If so, “obviously you havent [sic] been paying attention.”

  20. 1986hangman says:

    @incognito9887
    bank bailout huh… you people just like that word I suppose…Senate Republicans united in blocking a vote on legislation to provide tax breaks to small businesses along with a $30 billion lending fund…..You people have no ideas, Republicans always try to add amendments, and they were some in the bill, but republicans go to far in their BS amendments….. they are a minority party. and nothing gets done.

  21. 000266617 says:

    @groundhog2008 someone made a good point similar to yours elsewhere; that they whine about the President’s (supposedly) not doing anything about unemployment, and then when he takes action like this, to save jobs, they complain!

  22. bigpanda128 says:

    Lip service.

  23. 52jamaica says:

    @MissMoxie78 Yes…they want us to be on the same level as W, Sarah, Michelle Bachmen,Sharron Anglle, Rand Paul and the rest of the newest cult of the crazy right. Hard to keep up what they call themselves day to day….protect our constitution…but we might need to change the 14 amendment LOL…and one of the best was from my senator in KY Mitch McConnell… We are against everything Obama does…and we will let you know our plans at the end of Sept LOL:) Can hardly wait ROFL:):)

  25. beancube2010 says:

    People like those in teaching, policing, firefighting and … should join the Republican party and secretly organize preventive measures and protests against Republican’s filibuster harming other people in the future. Don’t worry their ideological pressures and questions, just tell them you are corporations, their super human beings according to their courts.
