Of course, Democrats are concerned about the economy.That’s why tax credits for small businesses were included in the “tax compromise” made by the president with Republicans.But a president MUST b able to do numerous things, at once. @daviderb74 I know the scripture but the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” has NOTHING to do with the WORD of GOD. In fact, this is a national security issue. It’s stupid to kick out men and women who want to serve our country (after having trained them & paid for their educations) from the military simply because they are gay. As a veteran, I could care less about what someone does in the privacy of their own home. It’s their business. Furthermore, how many heterosexuals do u suppose sodomize?

@ksks69 I agree! President Obama kept his promise. He’s, definitely, persistent. Had he not decided to include the top brass in this matter, it would’ve failed. But, his persistence and insight paid off. Thank GOD for President Obama and all of those in the House of Reps and the Senate who cared MORE about our national security interests & human rights than their personal belief about who a service person decides to sleep with, night or day. @sandman0391 I agree that gay rights has a long way to go, but don’t let the perfect get in the way of the good. This a great step forward, and a wonderful vision of equality. But yes, there is still much that needs to be done before equality reigns supreme.

@greeniem Here are facts, HIV is predominant in homosexual males. Fact, gay men are 8 times more likely to contract HIV than straight males. Fact, 47% of gays currently serving in the military did not want this repeal cause now it can be medically documented, 26% were indifferent. In the next couple months the gay community will see this is a loss cause Obama just killed his political career. He isn’t going to be able to help you in 2012.
@manyara02 Well said. I know many service men and women (dating one in fact). And he told me that a number of people in his unit were gay, but he never said anything cause he and the others didn’t really care. I think this is a wonderful step forward, and a great day to be an american.
How does this do any good? According to the UCMJ Article 125 Sodomy or anal or oral sex is still punishable and will result in a dis-honorable discharge. I guess as long as they don’t have sex they will be ok.

@daviderb74 The policy doesn’t condone homosexuality.It acknowledges that when a man or woman longs to service his or her country, they ought to be allowed to serve, just at they come…as long as their actions conform to the UCMJ. PERIOD!Homosexuals have been in the military for many, many years. Given that they are WILLING to put their lives on the line (when so many other sanctimonious cranks aren’t), I believe Americans ought to not only acknowledge their love of country but embrace them!
