The façade of socialism has always been the same — a phony banner for the acquisition of power. Every brutal thug, every Hitler or Stalin wannabe, first champions the masses against the despised few who exploit them. It is almost impossible, in a free society, for anyone to exploit anyone else for very long. But the lust for power must be sated, and the fruits of freedom must be slandered and spat upon with invented words.

  2. DemocraticFreedom says:

No longer can the left use broad terms to describe people who disagree with them and have those people sit idly by and accept it. For example, it used to be the left would play the “R” card to silence dissent against its positions and control any particular debate. Those tagged would likely turn and run from any fight for fear that any pushback would make a false accusation stick. Keeping out of the line of liberal fire was the only way to survive. That fear is now gone, and likely for good.

  3. DemocraticFreedom says:

Obama desired to fundamentally transform the country, allowing his allies to use Alinsky tactics to clear the road. Pushing identity politics as a route to form group policy. Labeling and attacking anyone who disagreed with the liberal positions on illegal immigration, government-run health care, economic redistribution, federalizing central government power, seeking union-backed control of private enterprise, re-envisioned foreign policy, and many other “transformative” issues.

  4. DemocraticFreedom says:

The once-invincible tactics became bogged down in political quicksand. Obama’s miscalculation of the desire of the American public to use central power to transform the nation quickly turned to a toxic soup that stood firmly against the American spirit of rugged individualism. Ramming home a wildly unpopular health care overall against the wishes of the American people was the endgame.

  5. DemocraticFreedom says:

Not only will Americans seek to overturn virtually all of what Obama sought or gained, but now they will also discount being corralled by liberal labels. Revolting against government abuse through strong-arm tactics is what gave rise to the Tea Party movement. Whether that particular movement remains is beside the point, because now the spirit it embodies has emboldened the majority of this nation to stand firm on its core values. The liberals have now completely lost for multiple generations.

    @gtw1983

For myself, I’m ready for the same old:

    Full compliance of the Constitution.
A return to honest traditional values.
    Conservative leaders.
    Free enterprise through Capitalism.

  7. HolyShrink says:

Health care reform was not “wildly unpopular”- it was heavily favored during the ’08 campaign. When the economy tanked- the public lost interest and was looking for someone or something to blame- and the Republicans fed them both with health care as a star feature. Obama’s health care was never unpopular- but the twisted version draped in lies and politics was.

  8. pgunn01 says:

@DemocraticFreedom What do you mean by “full compliance of the constitution”? What specifically do you have in mind?

There are many of us who do not want to see conservative leaders or values triumph, thankfully.

Hi Folks, I agreed with our President Obama‘s comments yesterday. Please remember about Obama’s Speech: End of Combat from Iraq, my point is we end to spend our taxes on War since Former President George W. Bush started to war against Tranny Saddam Hussien and Baath Party in Iraq for 7 years. I feel that our President Obama and his Cabinet focus on our Priority on America’s Economy and Employment first. No more War. We will not elect our future Republican Presidents. Not Again! Peace!

take what you were spending on the war every day and send a chk to every LEGAL taxpayer that makes under 60k a year

The U.S. jobless rate rose to 9.6% in August, but the government’s broader measure of unemployment rose even more to 16.7%, the highest rate since April.

  12. DemocraticFreedom says:

The 9.6% unemployment rate is calculated based on people who are without jobs, who are available to work and who have actively sought work in the prior four weeks. The “actively looking for work” definition is fairly broad, including people who contacted an employer, employment agency, job center or friends; sent out resumes or filled out applications; or answered or placed ads, among other things. The rate is calculated by dividing that number by the total number of people in the labor force.

  13. DemocraticFreedom says:

The U-6 figure includes everyone in the official rate plus “marginally attached workers” – those who are neither working nor looking for work, but say they want a job and have looked for work recently; and people who are employed part-time for economic reasons, meaning they want full-time work but took a part-time schedule instead because that’s all they could find.

  14. DemocraticFreedom says:

First, Democrats started running away from Obama. Then they started running against their own Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Now, they’re running away from their voting record.

I doubt this will work any better than trying to run away from an unpopular president or criticize their own party leader.

But it adds some needed levity to the proceedings, don’t you think?

  15. HolyShrink says:

If Democrats have started “running away” from Obama- his agenda hasn’t gotten the memo. Health care, wall street reform, stimulus, jobs bill- they all pass. Someone must have stuck around. The Democrats know Republicans put politics ahead of the public- but most of the Dems are proud of the accomplishments they’ve made- regardless of how their next elections turn out.

  16. HolyShrink says:

I realize repubs get upset when Obama reminds us that this economic mess blossomed under the Bush administrations watchful eye- but you reap what you sow. If you’re going to distort the facts and attempt to hang the economic failures around Obama’s neck- he is going to be forced to remind everyone that it is not his fault. You may not agree with his fixes- but to blame him for the unemployment is just stupid- and to expect a quick fix is unrealistic..

@geofiles President G. W. Bush and R. W. Reagan, Didn’t come into Office with an economy that had been HOSED AND DESTROYED. BY A CROOKED, IDIOT ADMINISTRATION.

They didn’t come into Office having to deal with A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN.

    Did they now.

  18. HolyShrink says:

In addition- Reagan and Bush were not attacked in the same way Obama is being attacked. Don’t get me wrong- they had plenty of detractors- and endured plenty of criticism- but nothing compared to the vitriol, lies, and distortion that Obama faces with every step. They never had their citizenship or faith questioned- and they were both given more than 18 months to make a difference.

  19. commonman80 says:

@geofiles, Job Bills DO CREATE JOBS.. Better Regulations HELP TO MAKE PEOPLE SAFER IN THOSE JOBS AND STOP CROOKED BUSINESS’S FROM RIPPING OFF AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THOSE JOBS.
Tax Cuts for the Rich, ONLY MAKE THEM RICHER. They do NOTHING for the Working Public or the Middle Class. If The Rich would settle for 150% Profit Margins instead of 400, or 500% profits, and keep more jobs HERE IN AMERICA, INSTEAD OF OVER SEAS, we would be able to REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT AND REBUILD THE ECONOMY.

  20. commonman80 says:

When Reagan and Bush came into Office, They DID NOT have to WORK THEIR BUTTS OFF REGAIN AMERICAS’ STANDING ON THE WORLD STAGE. The Bush Administration, has made America SO HATED around the World, that it’s not safe to travel freely to some Countries like we use to.

Does anyone realize that U.S. businesses are sitting on $2 Trillion in cash in profits from 2009-2010. But U.S. businesses instead of giving these profits to their CEO’s, executives, and shareholders COULD be hiring 40-50 million unemployed or underemployed WORKERS NOW !! Why are corporations not building up the tax base, and education base HERE AT HOME when it is the American worker and American consumer who supports these corporations by buying American products.

Summer jobs hit all-time low for youths
    ————————————————
    By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY
The worst summer on record for young people who wanted a job is staggering to an end this Labor Day weekend.

Only 47.6% of people ages 16 to 24 had jobs in August, the lowest level since the government began keeping track in 1948, the Labor Department said Friday. By comparison, 62.8% of that age group was employed in August 2000.
