@barsense No, what causes unemployment is when companies lay people off, or fire them outright because let’s say a union makes impossible demands and prices labor out of a job. The Auto industry is a perfect example. It cost $6,000 more to produce a car in Detroit than it does in Texas…Texas has produced 90% of the private sector job growth this year. A Texas Auto Worker makes $48hrs with benefits. A UAW autoworker makes $72 which is why uneployment is over 25% in Detroit. That’s one example.

Unemployment was in the 5.5% range Feb. 2008…Attempting to blame this on Republicans makes sound as weak as Obama when he say “Bush did it”…How’d that work this last election? Funny, I haven’t seen any “elderly” living on the streets lately…and I live in the NY metropolitan area and travel thru NYC, Newark, Bayonne…I voted for Reagan, so I’ve been around a while and there aren’t more homeless now, there’s less, especially compared to the recent illegal immigration inspired explosion in our population. The poor in this country live better than the rich in many countries… and the middle class in almost all other countries.

What part of Bush vetoed all democratic legislation and dems could not pass anything they wanted until Obama was elected and they took GDP from minus 0.3% to plus 3.7% and from loosing up to 757,000 jobs a month to gaining jobs. it took Reagan over 19 m. to get it below 9% and that recession was not near as severe..TAKES TIME
@wideawake123 Texas website says 151,000 jobs came from stimilus because they got billions in stimilus funding some jobs came indirectly from the stimilus. Unions got to greedy and demanded to much I can’t argue with that but ceo’s with their multi-million dollar salaries and jet planes got to greedy also in Detroit and producing cars people did not want sure did not help. @wideawake123 Where DO you get your info. lmao Obama stimilus was 40% tax cuts for working people WORKING being the key word here. Another large chunk of the stimilus was 8 new tax credits for small businesses, the rest was investing in infrastructure, education, research, and green energy, and shoring up state budgets so they did not have to lay off police, firemen, teachers. etc. The auto and bank loans came from TARP passed and signed by BUSH with equal repub and dem support .

@wideawake123 Well you said one thing that I can agree with. most Americans really don’t want electric cars etc. they do want their gas guzzling SUV’s and here is the conundrum most Americans also do not want to wind up sometime in the future totally dependent on Eastern countries that have 3/4 of all the worlds gas and oil supplies either. Most Americans want to be able to compete with other countries and get our share of the green energy market since that is what is so big now.

The only place “green energy is big” is on PBS and NatGeo Channel. It’s a cottage industry being sold to us alongside anrthropomorphic global warming. The purpose for both is wealth redistribution from the West, to the 3rd world. Since all the evidence that AGW is a political scam to do that, has been front page news and the IPCC proven to have made it all up, one has to ask. Are you For wealth redistribution and the billions it will kill in the 3rd world, or do you just Believe the fairytales?
