@noyouaintgettingit So, what makes Oprah any different than the other artists\celebrities that gets this honor? Because she has been the most successful in her endeavors means she should be looked over, now that is just plain jealousy there. Lets hope that she feels differently about you if one day you have the chance to be on the receiving end of her generosity.

I would have liked to have seen more visual/traditional artists (painters, sculptors, etc). Congratulations to them all. Its important to support the arts.
I don’t have a problem with Oprah, but I just don’t get how she’s that influential. I thought that the Kennedy Center honored artists like actors, actress, performers, etc. Oprah is a talk show host that has a lot of money and gives away presents to her studio audience. She’s generous (I’ll give her that) and is wealthy. But there’s alot of other people out there that have gave back more than her. One example is thatOprah opened schools in Africa and she has totally forgotten about those schools
