@barsense – “Bush tax cuts for top income did not produce the GDP growth that was needed.” What you really SHOULD have pointed out is that GDP growth cannot possibly keep up with the National Debt, which currently stands at 94.4% of the debt, and will soon surpass the GDP due to the massive spending increases of the Obama administration. No amount of tax increases will EVER cover wild deficit spending, as government will only want to spend even MORE.

@TheRickoff No Thanks, on the states, not for me, I am a small business owner in a republican state with 175 state agencies and 160 different taxes, fees, assessments, and I don’t want anymore state and local interference, they are the real tyrants and the only thing that keeps them if check IS Federal government. Local gov have to get a permit and pay fees to add a light outside my bldg. etc etc etc , state is into everything and the requirements are costly and ridiculous..
@TheRickoff CBO, and other economists say it is not viable to cut spending drastically enough to keep the top income tax cuts without causing the economy to go into a downward spiral again. If top income tax cuts are renewed just like always lower income levels will be hit with backdoor tax increases to pay for it, and middle and lower level incomes simply can not afford more tax increases but top income can because they paid it under Clinton and under Reagan and did just fine.
@rustyspurproductions Very true I think on the James Madison quote. Federalist Papers on Taxation # 36 towards the end. Not the exact quote, but basically, the luxury of the rich is to be considered tributary to the public treasury as much as is practicable , in order not to place undue burden on the masses of the poorer for fear of revolt. And the papers explain the necessity for revenue for the gov. also and why congress should have the power to tax. .

Don’t advocate for ever increasing federal power grabs and control over every aspect of our lives. That can only result in our loss of freedoms and liberties.

That’s what Democrats are doing, with the help of RINO Republicans. And to avoid increasing taxes on any already overtaxed group of people, all you need do is stop borrowing and stay within budget, just like millions of responsible taxpaying Americans do with their household finances.

The democrats want a wider audit with even more disclosure , they just want a longer time delay. If that being needed was a lie then Why did Ron Paul say he would agree to a time delay ? I don’t like the Federal reserve and the best way to reduce power is to keep the regs the dems passed and not renew top income but renew lower income tax cuts. BTW Ron Paul get’s Pac donation also look it up on Open secrets.org. Money=Power I say stop pandering to top income which BTW the Federal Reserve leaders do fall in that category. By the way, the Frank-Dodd so-called “Financial Reform Bill,” which Democrats shoved through the Senate actually gave the Fed tremendous new powers and allowed them to be cloaked in secrecy. Democrat Alan Grayson’s senate memo “Stop Secret Bailouts by the Fed” made this quite clear.
And the right just wants to give the Federal reserve and the mega banks that work hand in hand with the reserve more power and control by renewing tax cuts and repealing regs that limit their power, money = power and the right would just set backdoor tax hikes on incomes below top to pay for the top income tax cuts taking more power aways from the people and giving more to the FED, elite, foreign owned mega corps.
