Germany said no to iraq and this stressed the relations between our governments, but Obama and Merkel fixed it again. Actually Germany will always remain one of your closest allies in europe beside Britain

The USA…………..like it or not….it is a place where amazing things can happen. In 240 or so years we have had a black president, an Irish Catholic president. It’s just a matter of time before we will have a woman president, hispanic president etc

I love the USA but in you’re far behind. Here in Germany one of our most respected and successful politicians is a physically disabled wheelchair user, our popular mayor of Berlin is openly gay, and our leader is a woman. This would still be unthinkable in the USA.

Of course there are gay politicians in the USA. But they are still considered as “outlaws”. In the US – btw the world’s biggest producer of porn-movies – a disclosed nippel of Janet Jackson during the Superbowl-halftime became a subject for the US-Senate.
Sexuality in general is in the US(especially within the Jesus-belt) a big social issue – not to mention homosexuality.
Or can you name me a member of Congress who got elected as a gay?

That’s my point! As far as I know not a single US-politician has ever been elected whilst voters knew about his sexual preference.
Otherwise name me a politician pls who was nominated as a candidate and voters knew about his sexual preference before the election.
I am sure US-Congress has got roughly the same amount of gays like European parliaments. But they have to hide it! That’s the difference.
Here in Germany almost nobody cares about the sexuality of another person.
@AntiMuhammed1 but things are changing here…..the gay thing is becoming less and less an issue…..just as a black politician is nothing unusal anymore. I think the next 25 years will see the USA more like Europe. We are already in the early stages of Universal Health Care or socialized medicine as some call it. The USA has only had a little more than 230 years to evolve…..it is still a work in progress

Obama is the first president since Kennedy who understands the Germans. He knows a lot more about Europe than previous presidents, and that’s why we like him.
By the way, Barracks sister Auma studied Germanism in Heidelberg and lived in Germany for 16 years.
